Turkish proposal for Al Ahly’s Ahmed Abdelkader

Ahmed Abdelkader, a player for the esteemed African champions Al Ahly, is on the radar of Sivasspor, a professional football club based in Turkey. They have put forth a proposal for a loan deal.

Abdelkader is slated to be part of Al Ahly’s team until June 2025 as per his existing contract, which ensures his contribution to the unit up until the conclusion of the forthcoming season.

Despite bearing a contract, Abdelkader has been grappling with an insufficient amount of game time. He appeared on the field a meagre seven times this season under the keen supervision of head coach Marcel Koller. His on-field exploits included a single goal and a pair of assists, all accomplished in the span of 248 minutes on the pitch.

Before now, Abdelkader was left out of the Al Ahly’s lineup for the FIFA Club World Cup. The squad made a commendable display during the tournament, bagging the bronze medal. This represents the fourth laurel added to Al Ahly’s rich history of accolades.

There has been a buzz around future prospects of Abdelkader. Several clubs like Smouha, Ceramica Cleopatra, including international side Qatar’s Al-Wakrah had earlier manifested their interest in the player.

According to recent reports, Sivasspor has joined the queue of clubs keen on having Abdelkader on their team. They have proceeded to express their intent to offer him a loan deal for the remaining part of the season.

Reports suggest that Al Ahly, while not reluctant to loaning Abdelkader, is being circumspect about the financial aspects of the offer made by Sivasspor. The negotiations are currently in-process.

The winter transfer window, a significant period of player transfers, is scheduled to close on February 9th in the Turkish league. Currently, Sivasspor holds the 10th position in the league standings, having amassed 30 points.

In earlier news, Sivasspor was reported to have shown an interest in acquiring another player from Al Ahly, Mohamed Magdy Afsha. However, their bid was turned down by Al Ahly in what was a major development in the summer of 2022.
