First Turkish Astronaut Successfully Launched to the International Space Station

Alper Gezeravcı, along with three colleagues, was launched from Cape Canaveral in Florida on a SpaceX rocket. The company, founded by South African-born billionaire Elon Musk, facilitated this groundbreaking mission.

At 44 years old, Gezeravcı is a veteran of the Turkish air force. During his time on the ISS, he will be conducting various experiments, focusing particularly on how the human body reacts to the conditions of space flight.

This week history was made when a Turk became that country’s first astronaut.

On Thursday Alper Gezeravcı, along with three colleagues, set off for the International Space Station (ISS). The four were launched from Cape Canaveral in Florida, on a SpaceX rocket. SpaceX was founded by South African-born billionaire, Elon Musk.
