Toyota, the Japanese automotive giant, has partnered with Pony.ai, one of China’s leading autonomous driving technology companies, to provide robotaxi services in China. Under the collaboration, Toyota will supply electric vehicles to Pony.ai, while the Chinese company will equip them with autonomous driving technology and its robotaxi network platform. Pony.ai, which has raised over $1 billion in investments since its establishment in 2016, aims to start their joint venture with a capital of $139 million this year.
