Petronas Yamaha’s French rider Fabio Quartararo won MotoGP 2020 opener on Sunday, his first career win.

The 21-year-old finished 25 laps in 41.23.796 seconds in the circuit in Jerez, Spain.

Monster Energy Yamaha’s Spanish racer Maverick Vinales came second, 4.6 seconds behind Quartararo, while Ducati’s Andrea Dovizioso from Italy took third place, 5.9 seconds behind the French racer.

Meanwhile, reigning world champion Marc Marquez from Spain crashed out on lap 22.

The second race of the season will be held at the same venue on July 26.

1. Fabio Quartararo (France): 25 points

2. Maverick Vinales (Spain): 20

3. Andrea Dovizioso (Italy): 16

4. Jack Miller (Australia): 13

5. Franco Morbidelli (Italy): 11
