Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) announced the labor force statistics for January. Accordingly, the number of unemployed people aged 15 and over decreased by 166 thousand people in January compared to the previous month and became 3 million 424 thousand people. Unemployment rate, on the other hand, decreased by 0.5 percentage points to 9.7 percent. While the unemployment rate was 7.7 percent for men, it was estimated to be 13.7 percent for women. The number of people employed increased by 354 thousand people compared to the previous month and became 31 million 837 thousand people, while the employment rate increased by 0.5 percentage points to 48.9 percent. While this rate was 66.9 percent for men, it was 31.2 percent for women. The labor force increased by 188 thousand people compared to the previous month and became 35 million 260 thousand people, while the labor force participation rate increased by 0.2 points to 54.1 percent. While the labor force participation rate was 72.5 percent for men, it was 36.1 percent for women.
