Turkish stocks open lower

(MENAFN) At the opening of Thursday’s morning trading session, Turkey’s main stock index fell 300.65 points, or 30 percent, to 99,858.48 points overall.

Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index dropped by 0.55 percent on Wednesday to finish the day at 100,159.13 points with a trading volume of some 13.3 billion Turkish liras (USD 1.9 billion).

The exchange rate for the US dollar / Turkish lira plummeted to 6,9680 at 9.30 a.m. Local Time (06:30 GMT) Thursday vs Wednesday’s closing period of 6.9740.

The euro / Turkish lira inflation rate as well plunged to 7,5320 against 7,5760 and one British pound exchanged for 8,5170 Turkish liras versus 8,5640 at the preceding close.
