The banking index increased by 1.51 percent and the holding index increased by 0.45 percent. Among the sector indices, the most profitable banking sector was electricity with 1.65%, which lost the most. The BIST 100 index, after following a fluctuating course throughout the last week, increased by 0.28 percent to 4,984.86 points on Friday, while depreciating by 6.68 percent on a weekly basis.

INVESTORS FOCUS ON DEVELOPMENTS REGARDING REcession RISK Analysts stated that investors focused on developments regarding the recession risk as inflation concerns were pushed into the background, adding that in this sense, policy makers’ statements would be critical. Stating that the news flow from the Davos Summit, which will start today, will be followed, the analysts stated that the domestic budget balance and the ZEW economic confidence index in Germany and the Euro Zone stand out on the data agenda. Analysts pointed out that the trading volumes in global markets may be low due to the holiday in the US today, and noted that technically, 5.100 points in the BIST 100 index are resistance and 4.700 levels are support.
