Shell USA, the US subsidiary of Shell, one of the world’s largest oil companies, is purchasing electric vehicle charging network operator Volta for $169 million. Volta, an advertising-based revenue model, places chargers in shopping malls and convenience stores, where EV drivers can recharge their batteries for free. The acquisition is expected to be completed in the first half of 2023.
