$2.7 billion bond issuance from the Treasury

The amount of issuance of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance’s USD 2033 maturity bond was $2.75 billion. More than 300 investors demanded the bond, more than three times the issue amount.

The Treasury issued $2.75 billion worth of bonds. Citi, Goldman Sachs and Standard Chartered Bank were authorized on January 11 to issue a dollar-denominated bond with a maturity of 2033, within the framework of the 2023 foreign financing program, according to the announcement on the website of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance. While the said issue was finalized on the same day, the amount of the issue amounted to $2.75 billion. The issuance amount will enter the accounts on 19 January 2023. The coupon rate of the bond with a maturity date of January 19, 2033 was 9.375 percent, and the yield rate was 9.750 percent. More than 300 investors demanded the issue more than three times the issue amount. 37 percent of the bond was sold to the UK, 25 percent to the USA, 14 percent to other European countries, 12 percent to Turkey, 11 percent to the Middle East and 1 percent to investors in other countries. With this bond issuance, a total of $2.75 billion financing was obtained from international capital markets in 2023.
