The number of tourists coming to Turkey just for shopping increased by 190 percent and exceeded 2.3 million.
The TL, which lost value in the face of inflationary pressure in international markets and foreign currencies, made Turkey attractive for shopping.
Last year, 2 million 326 thousand people came to Turkey just for shopping.
Foreign visitors spent 7.5 billion dollars on food and beverage, 6 billion dollars on clothing and shoes, and 1.4 billion dollars on souvenirs in 2022.
Thus, the total amount of spending by tourists in all these categories has increased to 15 billion dollars.
